Uberti – History Repeating Itself

A. Uberti, is an Italian manufacturer of high quality replicas of 19th century American percussion revolvers, carbines, and rifles as well as cartridge revolvers, single-shot rifles, and lever-action rifles. These replicas are commonly used by historical re-enactors, participants in action shooting sports such as cowboy action shooting, working ranchers and target shooters who prefer traditional style firearms. Thanks to their quality, Uberti replicas are also sought after by collectors and historical firearm enthusiasts.

Uberti set the standard for producing quality replica firearms, a standard by which all others are judged. Uberti’s extensive line of traditional guns has established a long history of reliability. Enjoy the thrill of shooting a gun from the Old West and experience how history repeats itself.

The inception of A. Uberti, the World famous Company known for its production of historical replica firearms, goes way back to the year 1959. The Company actually started in quite unusual circumstances. The American firearms market was searching for a company to produce the 1851 Navy, in order to commemorate the centennial of the American Civil War. Aldo Uberti accepted the project and, in a very short space of time, was up and running and was able to produce the first 2000 pieces.

The product was so well received that the order was renewed, giving A. Uberti the opportunity to become the first Company to reproduce historical replica firearms. Aldo founded his company in the foothills of the Italian Alps in 1959 to recreate long-obsolete but iconic firearms from the days of the American West and the U.S. Civil War.

Using superior quality forged steel, state of the art technology and high precision machine tools, combined with the centuries old skills of polishers, engravers and carpenters, A. Uberti was able to create historical firearms with the same loving care and attention with which the originals were crafted all those centuries ago. A. Uberti became part of the Beretta Group in the year 2000, and the Company moved into brand new and ultra modern buildings in the year 2002, along with all the up-to-date facilities and excellent environmental conditions for its workers. High tech machinery was also introduced on a large scale.

Aldo understood the spirit of these historical firearms, as they were not just tools to be used for shooting, they were indeed part of American history. The ironic thing about all this is that the very first replicas made by Aldo were actually copied by other gun makers who, when trying to reproduce a “copy of a copy”, produced an undersized replica! The obviously did not have the same passion and attention to detail as Aldo did.

Today, A. Uberti is still one of the leading Companies in the world, reproducing firearms from a bygone age. By the end of 1965, the Company was producing their very first replica lever action, the 1866 Winchester and, the following year, the first breech loading replica revolver – The 1873 Colt Single Action, renamed by Aldo as the “Cattleman”, now a famous name all over the world.

A. Uberti are proud to claim that ardent collectors and demanding shooters from all over the world find that their guns, enhanced by modern production methods, reproduce not only the same shapes, mechanical and ballistic features, but also the original spirit and soul of those guns which have occupied pages and pages of history over time.
